Lagos, Portugal - The most beautiful city, coast line and beaches in South Portugal.
While coloured trawlers bring in the fish, over in the Marina yachts from around the World are anchored. Signs of a longstanding relationship with the sea.
During the Voyages of Discovery, Prince Henry the Navigator would restock his caravels here as they set out to prove the world did not end at Cabo Bojador. King Sebastião made it the capital of the Algarve, a position it maintained through to 1755. And it was from Lagos that king Sebastião set out to conquer North Africa, an expedition that was to prove historically disastrous for Portugal. From the Manueline window set into the Governor’s Castle, he was to address his troops for the final time. In the Gil Eanes Square, the sculptor João Cutileiro managed to embody the wild dreams of this adolescent king.
In its churches, museums and bustling squares, Lagos reveals its ties with the sea. On either side of the centre stand two testimonies to very different times. There is the Ponta da Bandeira Fortress, built to impose respect among the corsairs that plagued the region and now home to a museum dedicated to the Discoveries.

At the other extreme, there is the Marina, a meeting point with all the people and bars for a lively late afternoon drink.
The first slave market of Europe was held under the arcades of the Infante D. Henrique square. The site is now the place to be for the best in local handicrafts.
Amidst the abundant profusion of gold leaf carving and tiles of the church of Santo António, pick out the Lieutenant-general portrait following the "promotion" that king Pedro II bestowed upon himself.
Right by the city, enjoy the charm of these rock-enclosed beaches and the seafront restaurants with their menus featuring the pick of the sea’s produce. A great suggestion for a great few days.

O movimento artístico português necessita de inovação. Os artistas plásticos continuam a satisfazer os gostos de uma sociedade burguesa. O naturalismo predomina na arte. Os impressionistas não têm repercussões em Portugal. É um país limitado. Almada sabe-o. Há que dizê-lo.
Em 1913 publica o primeiro desenho n’A Sátira - é necessário agitar a mentalidade artística portuguesa. No mesmo ano faz a primeira exposição individual. São cerca de 90 desenhos.
Fernando Pessoa escreve uma crítica à exposição. Quando Almada o aborda, responde-lhe que não percebe nada de arte... Nasce a amizade.
Entretanto Almada não pára. Colabora em várias publicações. Faz ilustrações. Escreve a primeira poesia. Desenha o primeiro cartaz. Junta-se com outros artistas.
Em 1915 sai o primeiro número da revista ORPHEU. Algum escândalo
Júlio Dantas deprecia o trabalho. Reacções à inovação. Critica a publicidade feita à revista. Afirma não haver justificação para o sucesso. Diz que os autores são pessoas sem juízo.
A 21 de Outubro do mesmo ano estreia-se a peça Soror Mariana. O autor é Júlio Dantas. Almada vai agora reagir. Publica o Manifesto Anti-Dantas e por extenso. O manifesto não é apenas contra Dantas. É uma reacção contra uma geração tradicionalista, uma sociedade burguesa, um país limitado.

Uma geração, que consente deixar-se representar por um Dantas é uma geração que nunca o foi. É um coio d’indigentes, d’indignos e de cegos! É uma resma de charlatães e de vendidos, e só pode parir abaixo de zero! Abaixo a geração!
Morra o Dantas, morra! PIM!

Amália, rainha do Fado e do povo - pop art ribazz
A grande portuguesa, e também chamada de Rainha do Fado, Amália, mais do que uma mulher fadista, um ícone intemporal.
Amália pop art, é mais um dos meus trabalhos caracterizados pela influência de Andy Warhol e a sua técnica de repetição. Uma das mais conhecidas obras suas é o retrato de Marilyn Monroe.
Na tentativa de dar a "Amália" diferentes tonalidades e cores, procurando mostrar as diversas facetas,as tristezas e alegrias da fadista de Lisboa.

Amália da Piedade Rodrigues (July 23, 1920 – October 6, 1999), also known as Amália Rodrigues.
She was known as the "Rainha do Fado" ("Queen of Fado") and was most influential in popularizing the fado worldwide. In fact, she was one of the most important figures in the genre’s development, and enjoyed a 40-year recording and stage career. Rodrigues' performances and choice of repertoire pushed fado’s boundaries and helped redefine it and reconfigure it for her and subsequent generations.
